Rating 1081, on tap at the Bottleworks on Nov 2, 2007. So this beer is kind of why I love microbrews and the people that work at them. Went to the bar and asked this guy who was working what is the maplewood like. He’s like "This is what its like" and hands me a sample that had to be like 6 oz full. Took a swig and couldnt really tell if it was an amber or a sweeter pale and asked for the bartenders help. He was remarkably entertaining and a good source of information.

Beer pours dark but clear with no head. Nose is sweet and suggary. Taste good hop character but again more sweetness with sugar and maple syrup like character. As this thing warmed up the maple came out and the hops faded to much more of a amber with syrup rather than pale with syrup. Delightful.

Tasted 9/13/08. 2008 Schalfly Hop in the City. Filtered with a honey amber hue. Bone white head. Nutty, sweet aromas. Medium bodied with sweet malts and a sticky finish. Slight hop character. Tight effervescence and mildly bitter. Touch acidic and hoppy. Lingering malt finish.

Amber with thin quickly diminishing white head. Aroma of light grassy hops and light sweet malts. Taste of maple and other sweet malts with a mild hop finish. Smooth malty body with mild bitterness and a sweet finish.

Golden body with a small but long lasting head. Very nice and enjoyable flavor. The maple syrup comes through and it is smooth and nicely balanced. Gets thin late in the glass.

Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition, on tap. No maple. Bit bland and odd. A bit of a let down for what I expected.

Draft sample at Schlafly Bottleworks. Orange like the pumpkin ale. Definite maple smell. Maple taste and sweetness puts it a tad too far to the sugary side. Definitely well-made, but it just doesn’t seem to be my particular cup of syrup. Perhaps it could ferment out a little longer?

had a nice light amber color with a small off white head. Had a slightly sweet aroma, but not as much as I expected. Notes of the maple syrup when it hits your palate.

Sampled at Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition Fest along with Beerdrenched. Pours clear gold with an off-white head. The aroma has toasted malt, honey and maple syrup. Medium / full body with some medium carbonation. Taste startw with slick honey and toasted malt. The finish has slick honey and toasted malt. I’m guessing the maple is coming across to me as honey. The finish has bits of spicy hops ans smooth caramel. This is a good beer that I’d like to have a pint of outside of a fest - I will rerate at that time.
