Commercial Description:
Around the time of the Louisiana purchase, beer was shipped in barrels. if one had been lucky enough to receive a used Bourbon barrel of Imperial Stout, this is what his/her happy taste buds would have encountered: roasty, rich, malty imperial stout with a strong dose of caramel, oak, and Bourbon character. This is the perfect beer to pair with hearty, cold weather dishes, smoked meats, and virtually any dessert.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of prunes and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of soy sauce, hops, grass, and some wood. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of IrishBoy. Pours a clear, warm, dark brown with a tint of red and a beige head. Fat, sweetish, caramel aroma and some roasted malt up there too. Medium body only with sweetish, roasted malt - not overly burned - with lightly sweet notes of vanilla and wood. No distinct bourbon accents really and even the bitterness is discreet. A very subtle and discreet take on the style making it mellow and easy drinking. 280907

75 cL bottle, thanks to Myrup. Pours hazy brown with a slight reddish. Roasted aroma, slight fruity. Slight chocolate aroma. Flavour is slight liqourice note and quite strong with a slight chocolate note. Some undefineable chemical note. End is slight caramelly liqourice. Nice.

Bottled (thanks for sharing jarikumpul!). Dark brown to pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is bigtime roasted malts, liquorice, chocolate and also mild notes of coffee. Flavour is quite the same with the liquorice coming real strongly. Also Alcohol gives a nice warming touch to complete the whole.
