The aroma is citrus with some slight cheesy notes. The flavor is strong hop bitterness with good malt balance. The palate is warming alcohol that dominates. Overall this is a good IPA with nice hop/malt balance and the alcohol is very noticeable. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2009 Not sure why this one gets a fancy different label from all the other Schlafly beers... wasn’t impressed by it or the beer! shawnm213 (879), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2009 bottle. pours a hazy copper with a tan head. a lot of sweet malts and caramel up front. some floral hops but kind of overpowered by the malts IMO. Bread, some booze. not bad, shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2009 7/18/2009: Golden color + sugary citrus and fruit + toasted malt + grainy texture = Schlafly Export IPA. This beer is a tad sweet, but slightly bland overall. Nothing special. I think it needs a bit more hops and bitterness.
Draught sample(s) at the 14th Annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rating #90 for this beer.

BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Jul 12, 2009 Bottle date 05 06 2009. Poured and amber/orange with a creamy off-white head. Slightly subdued caramel and hop aroma. The flavor found caramel, citrus hops and a slight floral. Medium body and medium bitterness throughout. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 5, 2009 On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC. Pours a mostly clear, red-orange body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of thick lacing. Aroma is medium sweet caramels and a light, fruity pine. Flavor is thinner sweet caramels and a nice, moderate pine. Pretty sweet with a bit of floral character and a light toffee. Good amount of fruits (mostly pineapple, grapefruit, and orange) and a light resiny finish. Dry and light bodied with a long lingering aftertaste. Overall, a tasty IPA. Balanced with a good amount of sweet, piney and floral hops that dominate the flavor, but stay in moderation with the light bodied caramels.
