This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India.

Bottle pours a cloudy golden amber with a two finger offwhite head. Lavish lacing left on the glass. Aroma of floral and earthy hops with a hint of toffee. Medium body and carbonation. Taste has a floral and grassy hop bitterness, balanced deftly by a subtle caramel maltiness. Some herbal tea notes. Schlafly seems to succeed at every style they brew. Nicely done.

355 ml bottle. Pours a light golden orange with a moderate off-white head. When roused the head is nice and fluffy with decent lacing. Nice floral and citrus nose against subtle bready malt notes. Medium body. Malt takes a back seat to a through hop profile. Slight lingering sweetness in the finish.

Orange pour with a small head. Grassy malt smell with maybe a little orange on the nose. Taste is bready with some orange and a nice hop finish.

12oz - Aroma of doughy malts and grassy hops. Pours transparent orange with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is a hop forward match to aroma with a little caramel thrown in. Palate is sticky, tart and creamy. A tasty English style IPA. Very sessionable.

12 oz. bottle into pint glass. Looks good; honey gold pour that is a bit too light in hue for me, but still good looking. Nice lacing though. Light grapefruit aroma with other sweet citrus hop notes – soft and pleasing. The hop flavor is very subtle and almost “light.” It is mostly hop bitterness with a lack of flavor, yet the bitterness is still pretty gentle. There is however a note of citrus hop flavors in the body. It is medium bodied on the palate with a sturdy but not overwhelming carbonation. Overall: this isn’t great but it is refreshing in the summer and sessionable by taste and body.

Pours a bright, slightly hazy golden orange with a big fluffy off-white head that lingers for a while leaving some impressive lacing. Smell is big on citrus and floral hops up front with oranges, lemons and grapefruit with a mild bready malt aroma in the background. Taste is also dominated by the big citrus hops with mainly grapefruit in the taste, definitely bitter and hoppy in very nice way. The malt background balances everything nicely. The mouthfeel is nice and prickly with hop oil with strong carbonation to tingle the tongue. This a very good beer and certainly not what I expected when I saw English IPA on the bottle.

cloudy amber hue. nice lacing on the sides of the glass. aromas are rich and fruity, flavorful and slightly spicy on the finish. typical ipa flavors. good easy drinking beer, but 8% can sneak up rather quickly if you aren’t careful. just a note.
