This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India.

golden colored ale served in a goblet at the tap room, nothing too special here. it had enough hop bitterness, but was lacking in the flavor department, and i thought it was somewhat flat. schlafly has released much better ipas, (harvest this past fall for one)

Cloudy brown/amber with a farily persistant off white head and good lacing. Potent malty nose with some fruit notes. Taste is a fairly good balance of malt and hop. A good IPA, not a totally outstanding one.

On tap at Schlafly Bottleworks. Deep amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grassy and citrus hops with some malt sweetness. Body is smooth and nicely balanced, starting out with a sweet malt flavor and then moving into a citrus hop burst that’s not too bitter. Solid effort again from St Louis Brewery.

Cloudy luminescent brown with a nice soapy off white head that never departed. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is a big hop bite with grapefruit and floral notes. Nice feel as the malt, hop, and carbonation mingle and then separate on the tongue. This is somewhat like the month of March in that it came in like a lion but went out like a lamb. The big hop bite settled mid glass. Grapefruit and biscuit with some caramel flavors. Higher ABV is hidden.

This one was not really in the English style. Distinct American hop profile. C-hop character and very nice. Bitterness is clean and smooth. Golden color. Very nice example of the style.

the bottles says... "A meal of bread, cheese & beer constitutes the perfect food." queen elizabeth I this beer poured a golden yellow, quite clear with a wonderful off-white head that settles in the middle of the glass like a dollop of ice cream. it’s leaving lacing like 9000 (that’s a lot of lacing). the taste is fruity and spicy and a bit bitter, but with a sweet finish. this is a great beer, far exceeding any expectations i might have had since i’m typically not an IPA guy.

On tap at the Tap Room, bright yellow color, with a thick white head, leaving some laces, mild floral hop citrus nose, with a subtle leafy, grassy accent, hint of toasted malt, with a fruity lemony aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good flowery hop leafiness character, with some fruity notes of grapefruit, orange and tangerine from the hop, with a toasty, faint honeyed pale malt, leading towards a dry hop bitterness finish. Very nice IPA
