Commercial Description:
This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India.

Bottle - courtesy of hopdog. Thanks Steve! Amber pour. Very tame head. Spotty foam and lacing. Nose is piney and has some aromatic citrus oils. Taste is equally hoppy but has a nice malty back and some chewy caramel. Light spicy hops pour through here as well. Body is medium but leaning towards chewy. Retains moderate carbonation once poured. Finishes with more hops and citrus oils, bigger fruit notes during the finish as well. Malt seems lessened here while the caramel also takes a backseat. Spicy hops linger while the pine becomes less dominant. Very tasty. Eight percent alcohol? Otherwise this would be a nice session beer.

12 oz. bottle from DrMatt - thanks again man! Pours slightly hazy medium orange amber with a huge, fluffy beige head that diminishes leisurely and leaves thick lacing. Aroma of orange, toffee and floral hops. Flavor is rich with toasty, biscuity and lightly caramel malts, also bursting with hops, more citrus, pungent, earthy herbs and hints of dusty pine, as well as an ashy character and a bit of an unpleasant metallic taste that seems to come and go. Medium to full body and gently assertive carbonation.

12 oz bottle thanks to Captaincougar. Pours a slight hazy form some yeast sediment and a tight fluffy white head and great lace. Aroma is initially a bit subdued, but it takes a while- as it warms, and then it hits you- tons of sappy piney resinous hops and I get a lot of nice dank weed hints in there too which I love in my IPA’s. Very light crackery pal e malt backbone with some cereal notes, more sap and pine some orange zest and a grassy bitter herbal finish. Pretty solid IPA overall. I wanted just a bit more hops but this was bottled over the summer, so it may have lost a little.

Pours hazy orange with big frothy white head, and a nice example of wonderful lacing. floral hops, and wax on the nose. I little thin on the mouth-feel, and not the hop bomb i was expecting. still this is a great ipa that shows several session-able qualities! Thanks to Secret Santa for this one!

Served way too cold (~40°) a couple minutes out of the new beer fridge. 12oz bottle dated May 21, 2007. Hazy light amber colored with a two fingered head and vigorous carbonation. Herbal and floral hops aroma with a touch of breadiness. Taste is aggressive herbal and earthy hops and powerfully bitter. There is a light malt backing that is mildly bready, but mostly this beer is about the hops. I’m not so sure this is a traditional English style IPA, it uses the right kind of hops, but it seems like quite a lot of them make their way into the beer and the malt bill seems lacking. Maybe I had it too cold. Enjoyable, nevertheless.

Sample at Schlafly Bottleworks. We’re just suckers for the hoppy stuff, ain’t we? Bracing grapefruit and pine smell. This sample was actually from a bottle, and a thick pour it is. Big load of PNW hops. Grapefruit and pine taste supplementment by earth and lemon, plus some ale fruitiness. Despite this description, not an IBU bomb, but a great balance with some fine crystal malts.

Pours golden amber with a mostly receding wispy white head. Aroma of grapefruit, resinous fruits, raisins, and toffee. Taste is fruity and citric with piney resins. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and resious with lively carbonation. Bordering on an IIPA.

Courtesy Degarth. What a guy. Hazy lemon orange colored body with a small off white head, then receding into a ring of foam. Nose of grapefruit, floral hops, Cannabis/funk, malts, grains and some wet grass. Aroma is for the most part very light. Flavor concentration is well done, tons of hops and a nice malt backbone. I wish it had a bit more hop presence. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, oily palate. Medium length finish, bitter and then floral, fading away to a nice sweetness.
