Commercial Description:
2004 Hops in the City festival beer. Fruity, spicy, aromas and flavors contribute to the complexity of this Belgian ale. Medium body and effervescence contribute to a light, dry impression, despite its substantial strength and sweet, smooth finish.

On tap at the Brewpub. Poured a deep amber color with a small head that left great lacing. Smelled of fruit and yeasty. Tasted of earthy tones with alot of fruit flavor, especially banana. Some notes of raisins and slight spice of hops at the finish. Left a very robust flavor in my mouth that lasted long after my drink. Solid Belgian from a St. Louis brewer I have come to enjoy very much.

From growler at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy golden amber color; has only a brief bubbly white head. Aroma is ripe bananas and spices. Taste is bananas, citrus, yeast and sweet malt. This is good stuff. Another fine effort from the Tap Room!

Draught at St. Louis Brewery Schlafly. Pours hazy amber with a small, fizzy, white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie), average hops (flowers), average yeast (barnyard, earth) with notes of banana and bubble gum. Full bodied, thick texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a fairly see through darker golden yellow. Light head retention. Malt and spice come through on the aroma, but its not powerful. Heavy spices, seeming cardomonish. Quite malty, fairly syrupy body. I

Tried this at a Hop in the City as their festival beer and it was a little too sweet for my liking. Worth a try if you like this style.

First sample from the Schlafly Cabin tasting 1/20/2007. Filtered and honey golden. Large bubbled off-white head. Sweet honey nose with a nice floral sweetness. Medium bodied with a stickiness from the sugary malts. Yeasty floral flavors. Nice bitter finish. Sweet caramel bready flavor. Crisp hop finish.

On tap at Great Taste of the Midwest. I’ll be honest, I don’t remember this one too well, but my notes say it was golden in color. Fruity and sweet flavors, this one went down quickly. Dangerously drinkable.

pours a dark hay brown that has gold when held aloft. not much of a head, just a ring of white. super sweet nose with some nice phenolics and a bit of rose aroma and honey. trying not to say "a grand cru by any other name would smell as sweet" or something, but i failed. strong sweet sugar and alcohol taste. banana and clove flavors balance this. it is sticky & leaves a pancake syrup likeness in the finish. i like this. some berry flavors really make this a winner. i just wish it was served in a snifter or chalice or something to allow me to enjoy this aroma more.
