Commercial Description:
2004 Hops in the City festival beer. Fruity, spicy, aromas and flavors contribute to the complexity of this Belgian ale. Medium body and effervescence contribute to a light, dry impression, despite its substantial strength and sweet, smooth finish.

750ml bottle acquired in trade with bu11zeye (thanks!). Poured a medium and clear golden color with a large sized white head. Aromas of yeast, spicy, lighter fruitiness, and a little bready. Tastes of spiciness, lighter fruitiness, some breadiness, and some caramel.

Crystal clear, yellow ale with a small, creamy, white head. Ink-blot lacework... I see a ghost and a tornado in there. The aroma is of spices (coriander and mint). The flavor matches the aroma and is mostly balanced. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, spicy, lightly bitter finish.

Pours a transparent amber orange with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel and biscuity Belgian malt with a light touch of spices and fruity yeasty esters. Starts with some effervescence and malty sweetness with a nice balance of peppery clove and orange peel with some warming acidity showing up in the finish. A decent Belgian strong ale with good authenticity.

Bottle at Noogfest High 5. Poured hazy light brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex tart citrus yeasty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet yeasty flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish and small alcohol bite of moderate duration. Good brew.

From a 750. Dark gold, near amber body with a large lightly off white head. The aroma is lightly funky leather with some bread crust and almonds. There is also some cinnamon and prunes to be smelled. The taste has some pears and salty leather. There is also some dark fruit finish of raisins. Booze comes through in the finish that continues that strong raisin note. A weird brew that I really could not enjoy.
