tasting sample on 11/5/09... 2007 bottle. pours a deep amber color... big oak/whiskey, vanilla and bitter nose... medium body with a wonderful balance between the malts and hops. more oak makes its way through the mouth followed by some caramel. really nice finish leaves you wanting more.

Nov 29, 2009 Holy oak batman, pours Light tan with a reddish tint. Strong malty nutty presence. You can definitly taste the oak and alcohol. Decent brew.

Nov 25, 2009 750ml bottle, vintage 2007 bought at the tap room in St-Louis, hazy amber hue, with a fluffy beige head, sweet toasted, caramel malt, vanilla, oaky nose, with a faint maple syrup note, and a hint of grated coconut, with a bready, cookie dough, mild fruity dark dried sultana raisin, fig accent, with a sweet brown sugar, plumpudding aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a warmth sweet toasted, caramelized malt, vanilla, oaky, toffeeish, faint coconut character, with some maple syrup, dried fruity raisin, brown sugar flavors, with a noce sugar pie accent, leading towards a warming, malty, vanilla, oaky finish.

Nov 22, 2009 25.4 oz bottle ’07 Vintage 11/22/09 (Wine & Cheese Place-Clayton)-Pours a clear oranigish amber with floaties looking like they are suspended in jello. Aroma of caramel, sweetness, vanilla, and raisin. Taste of the same with a bit more sweetness and oak coming through. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and quite easy to drink. Nice job.

Nov 17, 2009 25.4 oz bottle, 2007. Hazed brown with a trace of suds and copious lacing. Nose is caramel, maple, vanilla, raisin and mild grass. Medium light, kind of watery, with fine prickly carb. Taste is toffee, club soda, apple and orange peel turning to bitter lime and alcohol. Good brew but too green for my liking.

Nov 15, 2009 Bottle, as Schlafly Reserve (Ale aged on oak) Barleywine Style Ale 2008, ABV 10.2%, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Orange to amber colour, low head. Aroma of alcohol and oak, some American hops and caramel too. The flavour is very oaky and alcoholic, notes of vanilla and coconut.

Nov 13, 2009 750 ml bottle courtesy MReusch. Pours a nice hazy orange brown. Spicy oak and hop aroma, not easing up after two years. Taste is big malt, vanilla, citrus hop bitterness. Really nice barley wine that is smooth and easy to drink. Thanks Matt!

Oct 22, 2009 bottle thanks to zinister. poured amberish ruby with an off white head. aroma was brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruits with the flavor being much the same with a nice slick body. great BW.
