Had a bottle at the Taphouse on Queensway, but the rating will come from the bottle I picked up at Bon Vivant. Dark copper-ruby pour. Small fizzy tan head fades quickly leaving only random surface bubbles. Nose is sweet malts, candy, caramel, ripe fruit and soft alcohol/liquor. Taste is semi-sweet with malts, light burnt notes, caramel, ripe fruits, brown sugar and light alcohol. Body has soft carbonation, light warmth, and a light-medium overall feel. Feels thinner than perhaps a dopplebock should. Finishes with more caramel, light toasty malts, sweet malts, some stickiness, light alcohol, and some dark fruit. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden

Milky, lactic, spicy, alcohol scent. Spicy, sweet taste, turns rather metallic in the aftertaste. Smooth fluffy mouthfeel, low bitterenss. Not a great representation of a Doppelbock, not totally bad either, but I was expecting better/more. 6/4/6/4/12=3.2 -- Rerate - (33 cl bottle at Haket, Göteborg) On November 28, 2008. BB 02.2010. Dark tea colored pour - quickly diminishing off-white head. Faint aroma of prunes and port. Flavor presents some caramel, tawny port, dates and prunes. A bit less bold than I would like a dopplebock to be. Mouthfeel is smooth, but a tad thinner than I would have liked. Decent, but expected a whole lot more. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Dark mahagony beer with a short lived khaki head. Odd nose that reminded me of raw canned baked beans. Damn this is a sweet beer. Table sugar, melted caramel, malt syrup, some nuttiness and over ripe fruit. Noticable alcohol, but just oh so sweet. Too sweet for me. yalnikim (782), Wellington, New Zealand
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Tasted 13/09/2008. 330ml bottle from Beerstore. Chocolate biscuit liquid delight. Wow, give me this beer fresh and I’ll convince hardened ale drinkers that lager can be great. Sweet malts in the mouth - with loads of dark chocolate and a little liquer-like note from the alcohol. Balanced perfectly by a very mild bitterness, a little alcohol and a nice bittersweet note from the dark malt. Delicious. This is my kind of beer. Perhaps a shade older than it would be at its absolute best. Skinnyviking (4171), Copenhagen, Denmark
