| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Very dark brown with decent head. Aromas of caramel, molasses, some citrus and cane sugar. Flavors were similar with a touch of bandage and a finish that was more bitter than I am used to in a Doppelbock. Not bad, but different. corby112 (773), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2008 Pours a dark chestnut brown with a thin beige head that quickly dissapeared. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, toffee and dark fruit. Very smooth with the 8.5 % very well masked. Creamy taste of chocolate, coffee and sugary fruit. Silphium (2152), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Translucent cola body, thin buff head. Nose of heavy prune, caramels, and toast that hint at sweetness but maintain a drier dignity. Also warming alcohol. Bready, toasty body, earthy and somewhat bitter, with heavy but dry caramels, bread, and toast, and just a hint of prune. Despite the presence of these elements, there was something bland and unfulfilling about this beer. Metalhead (572), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Pours a deep garnet color with a short lived head. Aroma is very faint even when nose is held to glass. Mild earthy malt is all I get. Taste is not as malty as it should be. Again, all I get is mild earthy malts and perhaps a tad bit of toffee. Watery mouth feel for a beer this strong. ABV not even noticeable but sometimes thats a bad thing. This should be be rich and warming. It’s not. $13 a 4 pack not worth it. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown. Full off white head. Rich, hearty malty flavor, caramel. Some roast. Smooth and perfect strength. Real good beer. nuplastikk (1227), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2007 11.2oz bottle. Pours a deep black-brown color which looks amber-like when held to light. Rich and creamy, not unlike an Imperial stout or Baltic porter. The traditional malty sweetness of the style still comes through, but the finish is creamy and roasted. An awesome beer. popkow (113), New York, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Pours that classic translucent brown color of a dunkel. The malt is a molasses, tobacco, and hints to some fruit maybe prune. The texture is thin and carbonation average with a moderate leavel of sweet, acidic, bitter taste that blend to make a great beer. Theis (3791), Denmark
