Commercial Description:
Doppelbock Dunkel has a pleasant full and creamy body, with coffeeish aroma. Nicely warming with toffeelike malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish.

Little head. Aroma seems a bit weak for a doppelbock. But, this is my fourth weak aroma beer of the night. Am I coming down with a cold? Very dark, with a chocolate color. Taste is light for a dopplelbock, but it’s good. Maybe a good beginner bock?

Cola colored with a wispy tan head. Nice malty aroma of caramel, toasted nuts, and a light touch of hops. Thin, fairly carbonated body. Flavor is more roasted than the aroma. Caramel, nuts, sweet malts, and some alcohol. Finish is bitter from the roasted malts. The alcohol shows its strngth mostly in the finish, but it’s still not overpowering. It’s good, and I my be rating it a bit low, but the body is killing me. Still, solid.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of brown sugar, nuts, caramel, and a slight burnt note. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, and licorice, as well as slight notes of dusty hops and metal, leading to a sweet dry finish, where the alcohol tingles the tongue and cheeks slightly. The body seem a bit thin especially taking the 8.5% ABV into account.

Pours a dark red/ brown, with not much head. Aroma of sweet toffee malt, molasses, dark fruit, and a bit of alcohol. Flavors of toffee, raisins, caramel, and hints of licorice and dark chocolate. Some alcohol comes through. A decent warming beer.

Bottle - Pours black with a reddish tint, topped with a thin wall of foam. The aroma is light in weight, but heavy in character. The body is also a bit light for such a hearty brew, but it packs a nice blend of wintery flavors ... licorice, toffee, coffee, bitter dark chocolate. Nice beer. (#3069, 8/29/2007)

Dark ruby red color with a small head. Malty aroma and flavor. It has a hint of bitter like a dark chocolate. Nice dopplebock but probably would not buy again at for $12 a 4 pack
