| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Nice name for a beer, two styles. Looks and smells nice. Flavor is weird in that it at first comes off as way too much alcohol, like the other beers from these guys that I’ve had. This one, however, gets much better as the beer goes along and has a quite pleasant finish. SoLan (1417), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Dark ruby/brown and 2.5 cm of dense, light tan head. Aroma of rich malt, dark fruits, roasted toffee, subtle brandy-like alcohol. Flavor adds candied dark fruits, subtle candy licorice, very subtle crisp and earthy hop in the finish. Full body, very smooth, lightly viscous. Nice doppelbock, underrated at 3.35, but not by much. Dickinsonbeer (3451), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep dark brown clear with ruby hihglights, grayish off white head and nice lace. Aroma is slightly oxidized wet paper and cardboard, tons of thick sweet caramel and toasted malts, rich munich malts with hints of soy- pretty nice. Flavor is full malty, nutty, lots of munich, nutty, light on the chocolate side, some herbal and earthy tones, tons of caramel and toffee with a good smooth finish. Overall it is a bit too papery and not quite up to the standards of some of the best Doppelbocks, but is still solid. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Dark mahogany color; big head. Malt aroma with some caramel, the opposite in the flavor, where the caramel dominates; there is also a touch of cereals; it’s quite sweet, but the mouthfeel is not thick. And the bitterness at the end balances the malt and the sweetness. Not complex, but quite good. fozapd (33), Burlington, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2007 Eggenberg Doppelbock was a well done brew! It poured a brown color with nice carbonation (very bubbly) but no head. Almost a slight red hue within the brown. The taste started off malty and sweet but finished with a smoky/spicy hop kick. I enjoyed this one alot. Despite the complexity, it was very drinkable too!
