Commercial Description:
Doppelbock Dunkel has a pleasant full and creamy body, with coffeeish aroma. Nicely warming with toffeelike malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish.

Shared with Pyrozoid. Dark amber/brown poor with a tiny beige head. Aromas of toffee, dates, prunes, sun dried raisins and brown sugar. Lack of body for an 11% brew, somewhat watery. Sweet palate with a malty, dry finish. Flavors of dark fruits and caramel. No obvious traces of alcohol...

Bottle from Systembolaget. Deep brown red with a off-white head. Malty aroma. The flavor has lots of malt, but I find it more roasted than sweet. I didn´t have high expectations on this beer because I´ve found moast Bock-beers boring, this proved me wrong.

Dark brown colour, with an aroma of malt and sweet. Taste is crisp with a caramel aftertaste. Not the best doppelbock I have had but very good.

It has been a while since I have had this style but this is a pretty tasty drink. Lots of prune and red fruit combined with a tinge of sweetness to round everything out. Pours a pretty dark brown with some purple hues. Well carbonated and reminded me at first of a semi flat Dr. Pepper. Big fruity pine aroma.

330ml Bottle - Pours almost black, lots of ruby red shining through, and a reasonable off-white head that quickly dissipated. Aroma is sweet and malty, raisins, prunes, and something just slightly sour. Flavour is initially sweet and very malty, an edge of peppery spice, and then a wallop of alcohol. The alcohol is quite heavy and there is something almost metallic dominating the palate late. Aftertaste brings some good hopping, still heavy on alcohol, but altogether enjoyable. I am guessing the metallic element should not be there, and without it I would have enjoyed it even more.

I tried this beer on December 13, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a transparent reddish-brown with a very thin long lasting tan coloured head. The aroma is sweet caramel malt with a little hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt, some caramel, some toffee, and little bit of a bitter finish.
