Commercial Description:
A traditional bock-beer-speciality of Castle Eggenberg. This beer is brewed only seasonally and therefore available during Christmas and Easter holidays. Careful and slow fermentation and maturation make Festbock a desired beer not only in Austria but also in Italy, where it is exported in 30 lt. kegs.

Sampled in Kitzbuhl. A pretty nice brew that was good out of the bottle. A good darkness. A pretty good spicy twang to it. Well made and intreging.

Grain and lemon grass aroma. Clear yellow with a thick lacing white head. Cloying with noticeable alcohol. Sweet grass finish. The alcohol is distracting and disruptful. Not at all up my alley, but to date, nothing from this brewer has been.

Bottle, 7.1%. Weak malt aroma. Clear golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is nicely malty, slightly sweet. Good alcohol level. Very clean.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a short blonde foamy head. Sweet pale malty aroma with notes of biscuits and herbal, minimal grassy hops. Moderately sweet flavour, full bodied with a medium carbonation. Solid pale malty, biscuity base with light herbal accents, leading into a sweet and slightly bitter hearty malty finish with light herbal and grassy hoppy notes. Not a very complex but likeable pale Bock (04.II.09).

Bottle: Clear, golden, small lacy white head; moderate sweetish-grainy, a bit bisquity nose plus alcoholic touch; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; bisquity flavours in the solid sweet-bitter finish. Quite a pleasant Bock.........

Bottle from Ace. Pours a well carbonated gold, nice persistent off-white head. Not much to speak of in the nose: a little bread, hint of yeast? Flavor is full and malty up front, it coats the lips, but ends well balanced. This is pretty delicious, and hides the 7% well.

Big coarse offwhite head does not last. Yellow body with carbonation. Malty grassy peppery hop aroma with notes of straw and rye. Sweet malty earthy grassy taste with oily notes and buttery traces. Very strong and clean taste. Harmonic. Full, almost oily mouthfeel. Faint alcoholic taste. Dry grassy herbal aftertaste with apple notes. Leaves sticky sugar on lips. Very nice. A clasy beer. (0.5l bottle at dahoam im bruderhof, Salzburg.)

500 ml? bottle. LIghtly fruity, slightly bready aromas with some yeast or citrus backing. LIght amber color with a decent white head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is crisp, malty, lightly fruity, and slightly hoppy. It’s a bit more complex than many Euro lagers. Quite fresh and tasty. Finishes with a mixture of herb and oak notes. This is really good beer. Hop tends to build in the mouth as sipping extends.
