Commercial Description:
A traditional bock-beer-speciality of Castle Eggenberg. This beer is brewed only seasonally and therefore available during Christmas and Easter holidays. Careful and slow fermentation and maturation make Festbock a desired beer not only in Austria but also in Italy, where it is exported in 30 lt. kegs.

Appearance: Golden amber with rocky top , neat lace produced.4-
Nose :Clean woody hints with golden malts as well touch of alcohol.7+
Flavor/Palate : Bready , malty brew with muted well covered alcohol side. Sweet malty brew . Not as clean s aroma promised . Decent example.

500ml bottle. Golden-yellow color, more or less transparent. The aroma is fresh and sweet. The taste is sweet and malty as well, displaying a lot of classic bock qualities, but with a stronger hop backbone than most Heller-Bocks. Big and rich, with a slightly pungent sweetness that melds quite well with the alcohol and yeasty flavors. A great beer.

Bottle: Bright golden with half of the volume being absorbed by a solid white foam top, yet it’s silently still. The aroma is super sweet and the mouthfeel is slippery and smooth. This has a musty bite with a starchy, airy bite, reminding me of some cheap American macrolagers like Old Milwaukee or something. Quite an odd impression for me to get, huh. I’d still love this with a big ol’ greasy bratwurst. (#3266, 1/3/2008)

Strong gold in color with a clingy white head. Cereal grain, wheat, charcoal smell with a faint backing of citrus. Thin palate hidden by aggressive carbonation, lending a rough finish. All the aromas show on the flavor profile, with the strange addition of a slight mint flavor.

Bottle. Deep clear golden, fluffy white head. Intense, bready, malt aroma, not very complex. Silky and smooth mouthfeel. A bit to sweet, and alcohol is evident.

Pours a transparent light bronze golden with a thin-lacing, wispy white head. Lightly caramely sweet and toasty pale malty aroma has a touch of German lager yeastiness. Body starts with a big, sugary sweetness, a decently viscous body, but doesn’t have much bitterness and is pretty unbalanced. Has a slightly warming sticky sweet finish.

Bottle from Swedish Systembolaget in July 2005.
Golden color, white head. Malt and alcohol dominating the scent and flavor. Not really balanced and not that easy to drink. I’d rather take a strong Belgian beer than a strong another one of these.
