Commercial Description:
A traditional bock-beer-speciality of Castle Eggenberg. This beer is brewed only seasonally and therefore available during Christmas and Easter holidays. Careful and slow fermentation and maturation make Festbock a desired beer not only in Austria but also in Italy, where it is exported in 30 lt. kegs.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pilsener golden with a creamy, white head that leaves some laces. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Solid body dominated by sweet malt and alcohol. Somewhat crude - and very typical - strong lager, bitter finish without any refinement. But drinkable all right. 180106

Bottled(500ml). -pale golden coloured, little white head, high alcohol content is well hidden through the malty, bready and grainy aroma, mild alcohol and slight bitter finish

Golden beer with a head that diminished quickly. Sweet malty aroma with spicy yeastiness. Toffeeish sweetness. Soft, medium to full body. Not extraordinary, but quite enjoyable.

A yellow beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is metallic combined with notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel leading to a slightly dry metallic end. The flavor is a lot better than the aroma - though still only average.

Yellow colored, little white head. Fruity, mildly alcoholic, hopped, basic and nice bock-aroma. Medium bodied. Sweet, fruity, medium alcohol in flavor, alcohol lasts. Mild hops make ending somehow dry.

Pours a very clear pale golden with a medium white head. Lightly herbal, grassy nose with a touch of sweet wort. Flavor has notes of grain, grass, hay, bread, caramel and noble hops. Pleasantly sweet and malty. Has a definitive, ample (yet smooth) hop presence which balances out the flavor quite nicely. Ends with the slightest twinge of alcohol. Medium bodied with a very smooth and creamy texture and medium carbonation. No lacing but good head retention. I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
