| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours copper with off-white head. The aroma is a touch skunky at first, but it fades; then the aroma is sweet caramelized malt with a toasty smokiness to it. The nose isn’t a meaty smoke like, say, Schlenkerla, but more of a smoldering deal. The flavor is pretty metallic with a focus on toasted malt and caramel. The actual smoke is quite tame, and reminds me more of a smoldering grass fire than the robust smokiness I want. Drinkable, but very disappointing. lithy (1700), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
