The aroma was an interesting balance of caramel, grass and just a hint of wet ash. The body was medium with soft carbonation and a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor starts out moderately sweet and remains that way throughout the medium length finish. There is a slight alcohol warmth at the very end but no hint of a smoked flavor. I find it odd and wonder how this beer was classified as a smoked. Tmoney99 (4767), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2007 Bottle. Poured clear amber with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate woody grass hop aroma. Medium body. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Lubiere (4547), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 3, 2007 A light golden ale with a thick receeding white head. A rather sweet berry aroma, with honey notes, but not smoked. In mouth, a semi sweet cardboardy malt with light german hops, and again, no signs of smoke. Boring and plain. Bieropholie import, although this used to be available at the SAQ a few years ago. bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 19, 2007 bottle from total wine. some carbonation but the head fades quickly. very pale gold, more orange and hardly red at all. mild bready aroma. medium body, with a fairly dry finish, only a mild lingering caramel sweetness. hides the 7% pretty well, but otherwise not worth alot of attention. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 17, 2007 Bottle. Label says "red ale", but it’s more of a bright gold with a reddish tinge and a good sized white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, perhaps a hint of smoke, but it could be that I’m imagining it because I’m expecting it to be there. Flavour is quite sweet, dried fruit and caramel, with whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms. I’m back and forth on this one - it’s OK for what it is, but it’s not something I would want to drink very often. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a golden/amber color with a decent white head. Aroma is mostly on the malty side, with a little yeasty/doughy attributes. Flavor is on the weak side, with some malt, yeast and a slight metallic quality. I did not discern any hint of smoke or whiskey in either aroma or flavor. Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Pours with an amber hue, off white head, quite large, stays throughout the experience. Quite caramelly taste very heavy fruity notes that do not entirely please me, overall this is not that pleasant a beer. I don’t know if I would categorize this as a "smoked" as ratebeer.com does...more of a scotch ale.
