| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Bottle, 14%. Quite peppery aroma, some sweet dried fruit and dust. Hazy dark golden colour. Almost no head. The flavour starts off quite alcoholic, getting a bit rough. Then follow some of the same fruit notes as were in the aroma. Good maltiness and quite sweet. Ending with a warming but rough alcohol burn. Slightly thick mouthfeel. odgaard (264), Skyum, Thisted, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2009 (Bottle) Pours clear, deep golden to light amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is syrupy sweet with tones of caramel, fudge, honey, marzipan, almonds, light vanilla, grain and bread syrup. Dried fruits like figs, dates and sticky prunes are also notable alongside hints of canned pears. Fiery, apple-like alcohol in the background. The flowery, honey and dried fruits-like tones makes the nose quite dessert wine-like. Just a whisper of floral/grassy hops. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet and light bitter with tones of toffee/caramel, bread syrup, honey, some dried fruits fiery/peppery alcohol, pears, apples and apricots. The mouthfeel is heavily sticky and round with a medium carbonation. A honey and bread like maltiness lingers with a dry alcohol sting. The one thing that I like about this beer is the serious malt profile - it’s not too sugary and dead. Medium to full bodied. nuplastikk (1217), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

I have lots of fearful respect for Samichlaus, the original alcohol-bomb beer. so I was quite interested to see what the Helles had in store. Big cognac-sweet alcohol aroma. Some foamy head which quickly dissipated leaving it rather still. Sweet and sticky, quite fruity in a liqueur-sense. I tend to find this a touch preferable to the "regular" version, perhaps a touch more drinkable. Sugary with almost a honey touch, this is certainly a unique concoction. Sweetness reminiscent of a Tripel, but with the malty quirks of a strong bock. Worth a try certainly. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of fruit and alcohol. Clear orange amber body, small head. Painfully sweet flavor, almost undrinkably so. Some fruit. Loads of alcohol. Pretty dreadful.
