Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

Bottle. Aroma of fruit and alcohol. Clear orange amber body, small head. Painfully sweet flavor, almost undrinkably so. Some fruit. Loads of alcohol. Pretty dreadful.

33cl bottle. orange, small wihte head. sourish alcoholic aroma, eggs. flavor is very sweet, caramelly, warming alc. apricot, quite complex and the alc melts well in with the powerfull flavors. however, you really have to be into lethally strong beers to really appreciate this one. it is more a liqeur than a beer imo.

Bottled in 2007, opened March 1 2009. Clear, light amber color, thin white head that disappears quickly. Sweet, fruit and alcohol scent with a little aroma of caramel. Very sweet, alcohol very strong in the finish. Alcohol was almost overpowering. I will try another out of the package next year.

Pours dark amber with little to no head. Malty aroma. Accents of malt, chestnuts, and pears. Alcohol makes a VERY strong presence at the finish. So sweet as to induce gagging. An unpleasant brew; felt like I was drinking cough syrup.

330 ml bottle. Golden colour with a slight haze. Small white head. Fruity aromas with hints of cookies and malts. Alcohol is obvious, but does not really get in the way. Aroma of strawberries. Very rich malt flavours with a strong hop bitterness.

Bottle from Hamilton’s. Pours a mostly clear orange amber with absolutely no head. Nose was very sweet with notes of caramel, honey, sweet malts, and candied tree fruits. Flavor is very sweet, almost like desert wine.

Bottled (vintage 2007). Light amber-copper color, small white head. Caramelly ryeish malty nose. Very sweet, full body. Molasses, raisins, toffee .. soft sweet palate. Not as alcoholic as one may think. Alcohol comes in the aftertaste, when beer is warming in the stomage. Ryeish malty, sugary aftertaste with notes of lime candy.
