Sweet aroma of spice, yeast, caramel. Taste is sweet, christmasy, tasty. Lots of caramel, honey, brown sugar. Alcohol is apparent, and its a very slow sipper. Still, really cool. joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of very light citrus hops, yeast, and a very faint hint of licorice. And when I swirled the beer, I swear I caught light aromas of tomato sauce. Flavor is slightly medicinal, with the flavor of hops lightly evident, sweetness, and a feeling of stickiness in the finish. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2008 Merry Christmas! And look, a present even before Santa got here - a one year aged Samichlaus Helles! A hale, Caribbean beach clear, amber gold body, a thin light snow of a head, and a scent of sugars - honey, brown sugar, caramel, corn syrup and apple juice. All of these sweets amplified tenfold in the taste, emboldened by a goodly volume of alcohol that makes it all go down with an ear-warming, impermeable to the outside vortex of cold type of smile. Not as good as the original, but the style is familiar. Merry Christmas everyone! lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
