| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Holy smokes what an experience. Sweet and syrupy with some plum, prune, and raisin flavors. Leaves a cloyingly sweet aftertaste. Big plum and prune aromas with a hint of caramel. Major port wine characteristics in this serious sipper of a beer. Pours a clear brown with a red tint and looks weak compared to its massive body and flavor. jeff789 (411), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Bottled in 2001, i’m assuming it was brewed Dec 6 2000... Pours a dark brown with a small head with huge bubbles... Smells a bit nutty, a few spices(clove, allspice perhaps), mildly sweet, some dark fruits(raisen), chocolate, and definitely alcohol... initially there is no alcohol taste in the first sips while the beer is still relatively cold, but watch out... Taste is maple syrupy, with some notes of vanilla and a touch of sweet liqueur, oh, and a wallop of alcohol in the finish and middle of every sip, and a bit in the front as the beer warms.... Syrupy full bodied... I give it plus 1 on the overall for withstanding 8 years in a basement... MmmcKay (286), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Bottle@Home. Doppelbock? Eisbock more likely to me. Aroma of apples with raisin. Dark amber color, off-white completely and fast disappearing head, no lace. Very sweet, bitter, apple, cinnamon, light herbal, malty. Sticky and warming. Ok, but nothing special and one dimensional. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Definitely a very big warming brew with the massive alcohol nicely enrobed in the elegant big malt profile - it’s not just sweet there’s flavor in there, and I will keep a few bottles for maturation. Bock-like in the subtle flavors, a whiff of wet hay. Coppery golden hue, a bit thick. Moderate silky carbonation. This will express itself in the aroma over the years and right now is a bit restrained in its potential, although extremely drinkable a it is.
