Commercial Description:
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

2007 bottle. Pours a crystal clear copper color with a small dirty white head. The aroma is sweet, alcohol, some caramel, and slightly fruity. The flavor is a whole lot of sweet malt and alcohol. Dark fruitsmand a little vanilla make a small appearance. This is on the thick, oily side of things. I think it may be a bit too sweet for me.

2005 vintage. Reddish brown colour, thin white head. Aroma is strong, very malty and alcoholic, glue. Flavour is very sweet and malty, which spoils it for me. Too sweet. Can’t get any of the other flavours out. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Didn’t enjoy this at all.

Pours clear Redish Brown. Very musty aroma that turned to sweet as the beer sat. Very sweet and alcoholic . Too sweet for me.

brewed 2007 - A dark clear beer with the scent of strawberry jam. Slightly less jam on the taste and a finish like a tawny port without as much of the sweetness. Definitely one to have in your stocks as the best before date is seven years after birth but would probably last longer.

Red wine like head. Scent is something I can’t place, seems synthetic. I know that smell. Testor’s plastic glue maybe? Taste very, and I mean very unique. Most messed up beer I have tasted. Warm peper and flowers followed by a synthetic nastyness. Finish is like that taste in your mouth that is left when spray painting inside. Overall tastes like something I shouldn’t be injesting.

"Bottled in 2007" Pours a burnt dark orange, totally clear, no head. Aroma is bursting with super-sweet caramelly maltiness. Cloying fruitiness. Flavor is very sweet, not much roastiness, just straight caramel. No hops, clear alcohol bite. Thick and chewy. Not sure about this beer, maybe it should be older, but i don’t think cloying sweetness = sophistication. Still very interesting and definitely worth trying.
