Jan 1, 2008 Golden with a moderate head. The aroma is sweet and malty and so is the flavour. It has notes of caramel, fruit, raisin, plum and a bit of figs and alcohol. The bitterness is moderate/light. It’s strong and in a way quite OK, but I had expected something along the lines of Samiclaus, but it’s far from.... 1518

Dec 27, 2007 Updated: Apr 17, 2008Bottle. Very light color, very thin and fast dissipating head. Aroma is malty, toffee, alcohol, touch of sulfur. Flavor is strong, bitter with hops. Okay beer. Strong, warming.

Dec 26, 2007 Bright gold pour. No head. Aroma is sweet. Fruit and caramel. Taste is semi sweet. Like a watered down cognac. Sticky mouth feel and a slight alcohol burn. Not bad but $13 a 4 pack is a bit pricey for what you get. I would not even consider this a doppelbock. More like a strong lager.

Dec 22, 2007 no head, amazing light amber color. almost non-existent carbonation. intense sweet aroma of fruit and carmel.
very sweet, with mouth-filling bitterness. complex flavours of caramel and pale malt. sticky and thick. remind me of cognac. very nice barley wine.
I really didn’t know this was a lager, its very Ale-like.

Dec 9, 2007 330ml bottle from a Billa Supermarket in Vienna. Clear, late straw coloured body with virtually no head. Weak fruity notes in aroma. Sweet taste in the direction of candy and honey. Notes of dusty grain. Fizzy stuff with a tangy alcohol ending, but the alcohol is not as stong as expected. Too sweet and rather one- dimensional dobbelbock (30.11.2007).

Dec 4, 2007 Pours a golen color with a thin white bubblie head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. A strong alcohole aroma. Taste is sweet. slight hops presents.A lot of alcohol not much flavor.....

Nov 27, 2007 11.2oz bottle: poured into glass is amber with a hint of red had a decent head that went away pretty fast. aroma is sweet and can smell the alcohol. flavor is like a mixed drink of beer and whisky at about a 4:1 ratio had that kick like you just took a shot after every drink. i hate to rate so low but the ABV is not hidden so well as it could be and the flavor could be better. will add it has no off tastes just not enough flavor to cover the ABV and cant taste any hops.

Nov 21, 2007 Very sweet, grapey, Cognac-like with heavy alcohol and champagne-like carbonation and dryness in the finish. Bold, warming and despite what they say, fairly easy to drink!
