(06.29.06) 11.2 oz brown bottle as gift from Tom D. 9.6% ABV. 21 degrees Plato. Poured hazy deep golden yellow with small white head. Soft carbonation. Toasted malt aroma. Full-bodied bock with moderate malt sweetness with pronounced toasted/bisquit flavor, almost mead-like in character. Finished with light malt fade. Not much hop presence. Smooth and rich tasting. A very enjoyable bock beer.

Poured to a golden color with hints of orange, nice thick whitish head thaat reduced to good lacing. Aroma was a mix of malty sweetness and hoppy fruits. Taste was an extension of this mix, and at mid-glass, the alcohol become just noticeable enough in both the aroma and taste to fit in perfectly. A long, smooth, tasty finish topped the whole thing off. This was really a good beer, and I will no doubt have more Urbock 23.

This beer poured a clear golden amber with a thick off white head that was sustained by a flood of bubbles from the bottom of my glass. The head was so well sustained, it stayed around until the end leaving behind dense clumps of lace. Smelled fantastic with green grapes, marshmallow and dark caramel with a pervasive sour undertone. Tasted of cool green grapes and peaches with a slightly smoky molasses malt that lasted surprisingly long, but then collapsed into a dirty dry juniper finish. Very impressive delayed dynamics. The mouth feel was smooth, thick and creamy with a medium to thick body and a light playful carbonation. Highly recommended.

Draft at the Saloon, Washington, D.C. Poured golden, with a rocky white head. Surprisingly little aroma, but the flavor was sweet and malty with notes of grapes. Sticky, thick mouthfeel, and a smooth, alcohol-laden finish.

Minimal white head along with a dark golden appearance. Sweet malt aroma with some vinous notes. Dry, yet cloyingly sweet mouthfeel. Smooth sweet bourbon whiskey taste with some breadiness. Comes across stronger than 9.6 ABV. Very good and different than other urbocks. I like!

Dark amber colour , absolutely no head. Sweet and thick aroma, syrupy, complex flavour - heavy, sweet with strong honey notes, bitter end. There is something about this "cognac of beers".

Thick malt character. Sweet & syrupy/ maple like. There’s almost no hop character. The only bitterness I can detect is a slight grapefruit like bitterness on the back of the tongue. A little bit of cinnamon as well, creamy and nice alcohol warmth. Dense, and definitly lives up to the "cognac of beers."
