(Bottle BBE 04/2008) Herbal hoppy, fruity, slightly alcoholic aroma with a hint of caramel. Golden colour, clear and very small, white, more or less fully diminishing head. Sweet, herbal, citrus fruity and spicy (slightly anise) flavour. Sticky, alcoholic (warming), softly carbonated and full-bodied palate. Excellent brew but a bit too alcoholic! 16/04/07 (original rating was 6/3/6/4/13)

Poured from bottle golden in color with a small white head. Aroma was a sweet yeasty (bread) with alcohol. Flavor was sweet grapes (kinda vinous) and a warming alcohol finish as it goes down.

Bottle (Courtesy of Hogtownharry): Poured a clear golden color beer with small bubbly head that disappeared quite quickly. Aroma is extremely sweet with some weird grainy aroma. Taste is just incredibly sweet with a warming touch of alcohol. I couldn’t honestly pick-up much more then sweetness in this and therefore I probably won’t be revisiting this one-dimensional beer anytime soon.

Golden body with small white head that quickly fades. The aroma is sweet, raisins and alcohol. The flavor is green grapes, apricots. Mouthfeel is smooth, but light. Very warm alcohol finish.

A blond doppelbock. I was afraid of the pending sweetness like Samichlaus; which I couldn’t finish, but this is very drinkable and very good. Gold color; lightly carbonated and no head. Aroma has some light hops and carmel; light smoke and malt; the standard bock aroma but better than average. Flavor is sweet malt; sugar, canned fruit and more light smoke. Appropriately sweet for the style. Very good.

Too sweet, almost like a Belgian. Finishes with a weird sourness that doesn’t match with the sweetness. Strong alcohol flavor, not hidden particularly well even with extreme sweetness. Other doppelbocks are better.

Orange appearance and poured very flat.Alcohol hits you straight away. Sweet but not overpoweringly so.One to try for special occasions not on a regular basis-could destroy too many braIn cells!

Not my cup of tea, or maybe I drank it at the wrong time, sticky sweetness, with sour aftertaste, seemed infected, this could be, as I bought it in a Karstadt store, where the beer isn´t exacttly controlled. Will re-rate in the future.
