Golden, like a dark Pilsner. Sweet malty aroma of caramel and fruits. Flavor: Caramel, mango, chewy. Sweet finish with some alcahol burn. This is a seriously underrated beer in my opinion. It has the kick of a Barleywine but keeps the personality of a true German Dopplebock. One cannot be much happier while getting one’s ass kicked! I will come back for this one.

Bought in Austria; thanks, Mathieu. Very (overly) sweet, so much that the fruityness is in total subtilies. Dry finish and discreet hop presence. A boozy sipper, that wasn’t easy to drink. I know you have bought something better if it had been possible, Mat...

Golden color. Sweet aroma, close to some barleywine, lighter; light malt and very ligh liquorice and banana. Good body strength and structure, not too sweet, final well bitter; quite malty.

Bottle. Golden orange colour with a thick, disappearing white head. Aroma of raisin, grain, orange zest, vanilla. Mouthfeel is sticky, a bit syrupy, medium in body. Flavour is sweet with plenty of oak, some apple, more dark fruit, alcohol. Finish is long with oak and mild bitterness.

[2332-20090725] 330mL bottle. Mildly toasted eggy grains aroma. Clear, orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Very sweet malt flavour with a long sweet grainy aftertaste. Medium-full body. Interesting to try though overly sweet.

Bottle. Well it seems I liked this beer a little more than some of the recent reviews. Pours a golden amber with a creamy white head that doesn’t last long. The aroma is quite thin with a little bit of honey and a touch of oak. The flavour is quite sweet: notes of vanilla, caramel and candied lemon, with the creamy palate accentuating the overall sweetness. I first tried this a couple of years ago and didn’t realise that it was a lager until this current bottle. All in all quite pleasant.
