Aroma of apple cider past it’s prime. Also some notes of a fresh wheat bread. The taste is a sweet mixture of cheap brandy and pears. Lots of carbonation in the mouthfeel. The alcohol is felt but not so much tasted. Not really very drinkable. More of a big bock, than a dopplebock. dornoy (681), Lyngby, Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 5, 2005 From the fridge. Low white head on a dark golden body. Slightly fruity aroma with hints of caramel. The taste is rather dry with middle bitterness and medium aftertaste. A good beer, strong but not too filling. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Clear gold color with no head. Very dry apple aroma, like the begining of a great cider! The taste... eh, I think the apples went rotten. It was a bit on the tart side in a bad way. I highly doubt it was a bad bottle, but I’d try it again out of respect. A doppelbock? Oh I don’t think so. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 22, 2004 Enough long-lasting compact foam. Yellow color with tendency to amber. Limpid and dense. Alcohol aroma strongly and malt. To the taste he turns out much sturdy and persistent one, without particular scents but much deciding. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 21, 2004 As a proponent of Eggenberg’s beers, after tasting this I was confused...
How did this come from the same brewery as Samiclaus and the fantastic Eisbock Dunkel?
Alas, I have my answer - all breweries have mops - right? These mops can be used to collect liquid extract, formertly known as beer - right? This extract could be recycled and bottled - right? A trip to the bathroom could provide the adjunct - right?
I guess it is obvious I don’t like this wet-paper, tin-finishing malt liquor. This beer is 1/10th as good as expected - hence the 2.3 rating. stefanberggren (135), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

This pours an effervescent pale color with a light white head. The nose screams of malt and decoction brewing. The taste is heavy on the malt notes with a persistant sweetness and finishes with an alcoholic bite. Slight fruit and fig notes to it. JensenTaster (1588), Denmark
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 17, 2004 Updated: Jan 11, 2007(on bottle)Deep mustard -yellow/oily color; no head. A sweet sent, allmost bon-bon-like, of malts and alcohol. The mouth is quite round, but is nothing like the kick you get from the finish. POW! Way too much power-hammer-alcohol, really effective. Not complex as a doppelbock should be, just a hammer of alcohol. Should maybe be called the strongest Malt Liquor in the world?
RETASTING(THANX RENÉ) PRE2000 BREW.Aroma of rotten fruits and mold. Fat sugar mouth, the alcohol is gone, leaving tons of barley- and a few clayflavours in one muth. Over the top for sure.
