An exceptional beer. Pours an rich amber color with little head. This beer has a malty sweetness with undertones of bread and caramel. The high alcohol content is not obvious in the flavor.

This is awesome. Had this before but it has been a while until last night. Strong aroma and taste of alcohol. There is also a slight candy-ish and strong maltiness taste within. Golden blond with a slight shade of brown in color and translucent. Finishes with an alcohol note. Not for the weak of heart! Very similar to EKU 28 (another of my favorites). This truly is the 'Cognac Of Beers'. Highly recommended winter warmer.

Re-rate 9/8/2004 Sparkling clear amber with a dense white foam for a head. Lacing is superb. The beer is a true joy to behold. Huge sweet malt aroma, somewhat fruity but mainly just malty. Not caramel or molasses but just pure malt, smells a bit like wort. Some wod notes also come throughupon furhter olfactory contemplataion. The flavor is sweet toffee, breadiness uderneath and no real hops to speak of. The alcohol is neer overwhelming and complements the experience well. Full thick body. Truly a beer more akin to a liquore then its malt-based brethern. A must try.

1/12/2004 8/4/8/4/17 - 4.1Pours very thick. Light amber body small white head with ok lacing. Massive sweet honey aroma along with some very distinct Scotch Whisky type aromas. Huge sweet honey and Scotch Whisky flavors. Oaky flavors and almost zero hops. Wow this stuff is good. Body is huge and syrupy. The alcohol is evident in the numbing effect it has on the gums. Not what I expected given this beer’s classification as a dopplebock. A very different beer and one that any true beer geek must try.

Bottle. Very nice copper colour with a very small head, which lasts. A very nice sweet and malty aroma, which tingles the senses. The flavor is that of sugar, and a pervasive alcohol note. Thoroughly enjoyable to those who prefer their beer with a "bite". True to the Eggenberg style!

Poured to a golden color with hints of orange, nice thick whitish head thaat reduced to good lacing. Aroma was a mix of malty sweetness and hoppy fruits. Taste was an extension of this mix, and at mid-glass, the alcohol become just noticeable enough in both the aroma and taste to fit in perfectly. A long, smooth, tasty finish topped the whole thing off. This was really a good beer, and I will no doubt have more Urbock 23.

Bottle 330ml. Heavenly. Aromas of caramel and apple. Flavour is sweet, with lingering long-lasting bitterness. Palate is creamy and full-bodied, and it has a warm alcoholic finish. Amber in colour, with a head that disappears.
