Commercial Description:
Tradition reborn - Eisbock Kraftbier, a beer with patina, over 100 years old, once prescribed as a medicine for weak recovering patients - is currently celebrating its renaissance as URBOCK DUNKEL EISBOCK. Brewed with special dark malt and fermented with traditional Eggenberg yeast, this beer has a maturation period of up to nine months. Dark brown in color with an alcohol content of almost 10% by volume, URBOCK DUNKEL EISBOCK has a pleasant, full, and creamy body, with the aroma of coffe, surprisingly light on the tongue despite the alcohol content. Warming with toffee-like malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish, it is a power beer, as its traditional Austrian name says, best enjoyed after dinner or as an evening drink.

Dark brown/black. Small, off-white head. Roasted malt, dark dried fruit, with sublte chocoffee and alcohol in the aroma. Flavor and palate decriptions are accurate: toffee malt with just enough hop-bitter finish; surprisingly easy to drink. Roasty aftertaste. Excellent brew.

Pours medium to dark brown. Roasted malt in the aroma. Flavor is complex, with dark fruits, caramel, toffee, and a slight bit smoky. Thick on the palate. Very interesting beer.

Bottle. Sweet, sugary honey-like aroma with some roastiness present. Very sweet aroma. No booze detected in the nose. There is also a slight yeasty funkiness. Mildly hazy garnet mahogany color with a small light tan head. Sweet, roasty, chocolatey flavors persist. A peat-like earthiness is also blended in as well in the middle. Rich, roasted molasses-like finish late. More roasts in the end. Very nice beer. Alcohol is hidden. Much better than their 23.

Burgundy. Malt (plum, caramel) and oxidation (Sherry, wet cardboard) in the nose. Medium bodied, with a slick feel. Molasses, caramel and plum hints. It’s quite sweet. I wish my fresh bottle wasn’t oxidized.

A dark brown appearance. A big nose of caramel and chocolate. A very complex flavor consisting of cherries, bananas, chocolate, and raisins. The aftertaste was somewhat bitter with some alcohol coming through. Nice!
