Commercial Description:
Tradition reborn - Eisbock Kraftbier, a beer with patina, over 100 years old, once prescribed as a medicine for weak recovering patients - is currently celebrating its renaissance as URBOCK DUNKEL EISBOCK. Brewed with special dark malt and fermented with traditional Eggenberg yeast, this beer has a maturation period of up to nine months. Dark brown in color with an alcohol content of almost 10% by volume, URBOCK DUNKEL EISBOCK has a pleasant, full, and creamy body, with the aroma of coffe, surprisingly light on the tongue despite the alcohol content. Warming with toffee-like malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish, it is a power beer, as its traditional Austrian name says, best enjoyed after dinner or as an evening drink.

(Bottle, room temperature) Pours a deep mahogany body with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, and earthiness. Flavor of toffee and malt. Chewy finish.

Glowing ruby brown color with a small off-white head. Strong dark fruit, malt, and spice aroma. Nice sweet malt, cinnamon, corriander, and brown sugar flavors. Nice warming feel, with a dry hops finish.

Dark reddish brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was full of tobacco, nuts, undefined spices (?), and a metallic soil character. The flavor was much of the same...very sweet...with a metallic aftertaste. The feel was quite crisp on the tongue...warming on the thorat...dry finish.

Poured small head, diminishing slowly, with some sliding lacing after a good sip. Aroma is musty, moldy, generally smells like "old". Extremely grainy in smell and taste. I like the power of the flavor (I detest weak flavors in any type). It seems as if it were a wine it would need more aging. All in all I would recommend it to anyone that wnats a mouthfull of flavor!

Dark brown/red color with very little head. Sweet malt aroma with hints of molasses and toffee. Fairly sweet flavor of malts, molasses and dark fruit. A bit of hops on the finish keep this beer from being cloyingly sweet. Alcohol makes itself known throughout, but is never overpowering. Very enjoyable, but not spectacular.

Dark ruby red color with litle to no head. Sweet mild malt aroma. Flavor was sticky sweet and malty, but pretty boring. Very easy to drink but not even the least bit interesting. Why is this rated so highly?

Pours a deep brick color with an average tope head. Split this beer with a friend. Strong alcohol flavor in the finish.

Very dark red-brown with a medium-sized off-white head that falls to a thin, large-bubbled ring. Rich, sweet aroma: molasses, brown sugar, toffee, dates, and a slight alcohol burn at the end. There is a certain mustiness to the aroma, something I can only compare to suede leather- I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Such rich malts in this, the flavor brings many ripened fruit flavors (plums, dates) to the party, light coffee, roasted nuts and caramel. Dry, slightly alcoholic finish. Chewy, full mouthfeel, like chomping on a big piece of taffy. It took nearly 800 different beers, but I’ve finally had an eisbock!
