Opaque black with creamy brown head, real nice. Aroma is dry roast and purple (oxidation?) fruit with slight lacto infection note, coffee, starts out nice but leads to a weird finish. Flavor is sweeter roast with purple fruit, coffee, a little mettallic. Medium to thin with light carbonation. One of the better of Schmohz beers but still not my cup of tea. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Watery black pour with a brief tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and butter. Taste of chocolate, coffee grounds, some dirt. Pretty bitter, almost chemical. Goes done pretty quickly and smoothly. Finishes with some permanent marker. Really thin mouthfeel. I get this beer, but its not what it pretends to be. It’s certainly not huge, merely an average session stout. mxrob (1), Kentwood, Michigan, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Yeah, I known... a perfect 5? I’ve tried so many different stouts. They just don’t compare IMO. So far Bonecrusher is my favorite beer of all time.! WakeandBake (432), Greenville, Michigan, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2008 12oz Bottle. Very savory roast aroma. Comes at me with a mouthful of mushroom umami and a chocolate-glazed grilled duck breast. Roasty, but with some monsters hiding behind the roast character. A crepping sense of uncleanliness. For now, I’ll live with some faint chocolate dryness in the nose. Pours relatively dark, with a red-brown edge and a decent soap of coffee and cream. Yay! Clean beer. Kind of...a lot of dust coming through fast, but it may just be somewhat strong roast character. Anyway, a decently-bodied, relatively fresh dry stout, with a good amount of graham cracker, honey and strong dry chocolate, dark. Kind of bland and metallic, but clean and fresh, with a bit of a hop balance on the backend. The roast character is actually decent. I think this would be fun at double the gravity or half. But, somehow it’s a little mediocre as a regular old stout. Not much caramel or browned sugar depth. I shouldn’t be complaining, this is drinkable. Thanks Sean! mmmbeer (754), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2008 (Sampled 7-5-08) On tap at the brewery-very dark brown in appearance, small light brown head half finger high formed and made me want to smoke. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and notes of chocolate. HIts the mouth with a high-medium body, malt comes through cleanly and evenly, finish is clean and a bit on the dry side. Very drinkable. bigtaster (184), Grand Rapids, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2008 Draft from brewpub. Dark brown with no head whatsoever. Malty chocolate aroma. Sweet light chocolate, roast flavors. Decent beer, would agree that this is on the borderline between and stout and porter but goon nonetheless. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Sample from a growler at the Super Terrific Stout Tasting on Feb 16th. Two Stouts whose labels feature an axe being wielded. Cool. This beer is blackish-brown with a medium and foamy light brown head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists mainly of coffee along with hints of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Medium, smooth body with a tasty chocolate and coffee character, along with light hops and malt. The finish is mild and roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Better than expected, I would try this again.
