MrBunn (1521), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark tarnished penny color with a dense head and lots of junk swimming around on the carbonation. Flavor is very weak for an IIPA... a bit of caramel and apple, wine or wine grapes and a little brandy. Flavor has much of the same stuff going on... lots of booze (almost like rubbing alcohol at times), odd fruits and very little hops presence. Hmm... RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 13, 2009 Pretty dark brown as 2IPAs go. Aroma of caramel and hops. Flavor is pretty malty, this flirts with being a barleywine, a pretty thin barleywine. Not bad, all in all, not something I’d seek out again, though. bluto1978 (12), Michigan, USA Sep 28, 2009 Alot of hops, burning sensation from all the alcohol. Great label. Better on draft than bottle, best beer they make. HonkeyBra (1270), Lemont, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2009 A beer about boobs. Ok, I can support that. Hmm, Hazy reddish pour, caramelly, hop aroma. Flavor has a lot of butter, newspaper, cat litter. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe this one. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Aug 29, 2009 Draft at Hop Cat, Grand Rapids, MI. Some alcohol taste, with malt sweetness. Enough hops to make it a DIPA. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2009 Bonus beer shared by Dave at the Sam Adams Beer Lover’s choice tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7/30/09. Cloudy brown pour with a thin off-white head. Caramel malt aroma with some booze and the slightest bit of hop. Smells more like a bock or a b-wine than an IIPA. Caramel malt flavor with a dry hop finish. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 31, 2009 Sample at the Sam Adams beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 07/30/09. The beer is a mostly clear light orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the cup. Mild hops aroma with touches of malt and citrus. Medium, clean body with hops and bready malt flavors. The finish is moderately hoppy and short. Overall an okay IPA, and a below average IIPA. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA May 17, 2009 9.5% ABV 12oz bottle from Party World on Alpine, Grand Rapids, MI. Clear ruby red with small, almost nonexistent beige head. Aroma is sweet and doughy with citrus hops, very barleywiney, some alc, BIG acetone.. Flavor is alc, dirty grapefruit, slight bitterness, caramel, peppermint, spicey, citrus, cloyingly sweet, some alc burn, a little astingent too. Medium to light and watery with no carbonation. Unbalanced and watery.
