Commercial Description:
Originally developed in the late 1700’s, British breweries would send beer via sail to the troops and British expatriates in India. With a whopping hop aroma and finish, married to dry but full maltiness this ale will remind you of those traditional ales. The copper color, East Kent Golding’s hops and moderate carbonation add to its authenticity as a English IPA.

12oz bottle, 528 on the cap, thanks to coyotehunter! pours a slightly hazy, light copper with a short, white head and decent lacing. aroma is decent with sweet, sugary, citrus hops, a touch of tropical fruit, pine, and dusty, grainy, malts. flavor is solid with mild pine and dry grassy hops, a touch of citrus, light, dry caramel malts and a bitter finish. palate is thin and light bodied with high carbonation. overall, a decent IPA.

2009 Bottle - Thanks coyotehunter! - Pours out amber with a small white head...aroma is grainy and roasty malt, with some hops but not many...flavour is lightly bitter in the back of the throat and light malty grain, dirt, not much else...almost figured this to be an agressively bittered amber...wow...

Bottle generously provided by coyotehunter. Pours a dingy brown with little head and pitiable aromas. A bit of bitter hops and light malt is about it. Flavor is also a swirl of weak flavors might qualify as an English IPA, but not a great one. There’s some toffee and a bit of bitterness, but this is just not that great.

Bottle from B + B..pours a dirty rust color with little head..Aroma is lacking a little...some pine, some gumballs, some malt...but pretty light. taste is more of an APA...a little hoppy with some malt, but not much else. Finishes a bit dry with a light bitter.

12oz bottle from Party World on Alpine, Grand Rapids, MI. Clear orangey amber with medium beige head. Aroma is citrus and tropical hops with dry caramel and some bubblegum. Flavor is medium dirty bitter tropical hops, orange, some herbal hops as well, a little hop teaish with caramel and biscuit finish. Light, watery body with lively carbonation. Tasty but thin.

On tap at Schmohz Brewing Company. Hazy amber with a lacing maker of a white head. Aroma of citrus hops and sweet malt. Taste of citrus hops, grapefruit and sweet malt. Body is a bit chewy and doesn’t quite feel right. Mild dryness and bitterness on the finish. Not a great example of the style.

Golden hazy orange nice lacing. Citrus mixed with malty sweetness. Quick bitterness, good citrus, fairly one dimensional. Drinkable and tasty but by far nothing special. If this beer was cheep I’d drink it.

Growler. A rusty orange color with a minimal white head. Nose of pine, and floral hops, maybe some oak. Flavor is much the same as the aroma, kind of a grassy, earthy, dry hop thing going on, I do not detect any of the citrus notes one would expect, but more like a faint yeast fruit note, bitter finish, Nice mouthfeel, soft carbonation with some good lacing.,I really enjoyed it .
