wheelz843 (203), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jul 17, 2009 bottle. pours a cloudy straw yellow with little head. has a bit of a fruity, spicy aroma. has a bitter taste with just a hint of spice and not much else. metallic aftertaste. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA May 16, 2009 4.3% Bottle from Party World on Alpine, Grand Rapids, MI. Clear amber with small white head. Aroma is faint, fresh grain, grass, caramel, hops, all very faint though. Flavor is caramel, dirty grain, grassy, herbal hops, medium sweet, some citrus hops in the finish. The bottled version seems distinctively different then the tap version, this is nowhere close to being yellow and I don’t really get all the corn that people are describing. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 19, 2009 On tap at Schmohz Brewing Company. Is that suppose to be a monk holding a mug of beer in the photo? If it is then I suggest he empty his mug and try something else because this one is a skipper. The only beer I had at Schmohz that I really didn’t care for. Straw yellow with next to no head, basically macro muck. Aroma of corn and sweet malt. Taste of corn, malt and mild hops. Astringent and not very good. CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Aug 10, 2008 12oz Bottle. Flat hop-leaf and corn aroma. A bit of cereal and corn flakes show through a bit too strongly with some alcohol and yeast products. Pours a hazy peach-gold, with a rim of white. Eek. Flavor is tannic and thin. Lactic malt sugar flavor rises fast and is not enjoyable. Puckery and light sour in sour malt way. Not good. Warm cereal fights through this off character a little bit. But I don’t really find this drinkable. A nip of hop leaf comes through in the finish, but it’s really too late. Thanks for keeping me in limited release Michigan beers Sean! Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 6, 2007 Draft sample at Schmohz. Poured a clear pale color with an average frothy white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Light sweet hoppy aroma. Medium body. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Every brewer needs a light beer. AlKHall (161), West Hartford, Connecticut, USA Aug 6, 2006 On Tap @ Schmohz. Cloudy gold appearances. Has a mild spice aroma, but the flavor was like a lite syrup. Im not sure what the spices were, but there was a mild citrus flavor in there somewhere. mild hop flavor, and very minimal carbonation. It wan’t my favorate so far, but I’d like to try more Schmolz. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Dec 25, 2004 my least favorite beer from Schmohz Brewing; lemon yellow appearance with little head...aroma is mainly sweet notes with some malts; decent palate; flavor is similar to aroma with lemon notes and sugars Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA Dec 23, 2004 Slightly hazy straw-colored body. Somewhat adjuncty aroma (even though I’m not sure any adjuncts went into this) with sweet, slightly metallic malts and earthy hops. Earthy hops contribute to the biscuity, lightly fruity malt flavor. Thin-medium body. A somewhat maligned style, and this was my least favorite beer at the brewery. Good for the uninitiated, I suppose.
