Straw, spice and a light citrus in the nose. Citrus is more present in the flavour and fits nicely with grass and spice notes. Mild bitter citrus finish. Not bad. Looks a bit too limpid with a very pale straw-pear color but has a natural hazy look that is still attractive. Smells of hay and honey, lemon hops. Tastes of grassy hop, grainy and sweet malt, refreshing lager ’edge’ that is not in the least metallic. Some pear and lemon. Slightly brisk and lean overall in a simple, light German style. bierkoning (6103), La Tropica, Netherlands

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2009 330 ml bottle - pours a hazy yellow - not sure if it’s unfiltered or perhaps just chill haze, but this looks quite beautiful. Decent one finger white cap that diminishes to a surface film and doesn’t leave much in the way of lace. Surprisingly fresh and lively grassy/lemony/peppery hop aroma, with a bit of sweetness from the malt underneath. Lovely. The flavour doesn’t quite live up to the appearance and the aroma, but is good nonetheless. Good mix of the lemony hops and the sweet malt, mild. Medium carbonation. Not much in the way of finish, though it does leave a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Very good beer and a nice surprise. I would buy again, especially in warmer weather.
