Odenwalder Golden Lager

4/24/2007: Transparent golden yellow with a large, foamy, diminishing white head. Average amount of lively carbonation. Pale malts and grain in the aroma. The flavor is that of a typical lager with a mild/delicate noble, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. No adjuncts (e.g. corn, etc.) were detectable in flavor, just pale/pils malts. The body is pretty light. This beer is crisp, clean, and refreshing. the carbonation level is just right in the mouth. Overall this is a good beer that is quite drinkable.

Found this one labelled "Odenwalder Golden Lager" at an Aldi in Batavia, Illinois. Bright, golden yellow pour with a very thick, white head. Baked bread and honey in the nose. Milky mouthfeel. Nice balance. Good! I continue to be happy with Aldi beers.

Pour is a bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma is hard to detect. Just some small breadyness. Flavor is a bit better. Mostly malts with an ever so small amount of hops. Nothing to get excited about but it was damn cheap.

Bottle purchased at ALDI as Oldenwalder. Poured clear pale with medium frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate hoppy aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium bitter hoppy flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met and much bettter then most U.S. macro premiums.

Golden pour with a moderate white head that lingers only briefly. The nose is light bready caramel malt and very light floral hopping. The flavors likewise favor a bready-type caramel malt and light foral/herbal hops. The mouthfeel is somewhat creamy/buttery...and contributes to a beer that is somewhat better than average.

(Brewed under "Odenwalder" brand... purchased from Aldi) Pours true golden into the glass, a bit pale... no real head of which to speak. Airy bakery nose that transfer ok into the flavor. Crisp lightly sweet malts what a decent mouthfeel... has some good substance, and feels to be a nice quencher as the finish is well-carbonated. It’s not over-carbonated (almost, but just skirts the fringe). It’s well-bittered, but again, not overtly so... Everything about it seems average on the outset, but a nice average. Would be a good summer brew, as it cleans the palate well without being too bubbly or watery.

Bottle: Straw golden coloured, small stable and lacing head, sweetish barley in the aroma, mixed with some bitterness; mild, soft MF, light bodied; sweet-grainy, a bit citrousy finish. A very unspectacular Export, but soft and pleasant.................

Bottle. Golden color with large creamy white head. Fresh hoppy aroma. Light malts and hops in the flavor. Light bitter finish. Medium bodied. It was OK.
