Brown with an orange tinge. Not much of a head. Roasted malt, in the palate had caramel and toffee and a maltiness. Not bad but not complex enough for me.

(bottle) Clear reddish brown colour with a short, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet malty, shy roasted aroma with light notes of caramel. Medium to light sweet flavour, rather slim bodied with a medium carbonation. Slightly papery taste with hints of roasted malt and traces of caramel and dried fruits; dry, light-bitter and malty finish. Mediocre brew, which is lacking the profound attributes of a real Schwarzbier.

From a twelve ounce bottle labled as this beer’s a.k.a. "Odenwalder Schwarz Beer" - Pours a black, malty-nosed beer with a tall white head. Tastewise, this one’s a tad on the sweet side, but flavorful. I like it!

500ml bottle: poured brown with a medium sized beige head. Light olives in the aroma at first followed by light roasted malt. Fairly thin body with light roastiness with good clean flavor. Not a lot of flavors there but it is pretty typical for a German schwartzbier. Decent.

This bottled brew marked BBF 07/07/06 from Indianapolis, IN poured a large sized frothy topped head of mostly diminishing foamy tan colored bubbles that left behind a carbonated transparent dark caramel brown colored body. The aroma was barely noticeably malty. The mouth feel was crisp clean and thin flavored from start to finish. The thin flavor contained notes of sweet caramel malt and brown malt.

Odenwalder label. Poured dark brown with generous snow-white foamy head that left lots of lace as it receded. Aromas of fruit, sweet malt, and cold coffee. Taste was watery malt, dark fruit, coffee and hop bitterness with no hop flavor. Mouthfeel thin and watery.

Bottle. Purchased at Aldi under the name Odenwalder Schwarz Beer. Cola colored with a 3 inch head. A little malt aroma but not much else. Thin and watery with a sweet malt flavor. A little caramel in the mix.

Bottle. Best by 070706. Poured a medium sized ivory head that mostly diminished, transparent, fizzy carbonation, and a reddish brown hue. Malty and caramel nose. Flavor was sweet, malty, caramel, roasty, and thin flavor. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light body.
