The aroma is a light sweetish malt and the color is dark black. The taste is slightly sweet and the finish on the palate is light.

Poured a dark cola color with a short head and wispy lacing. Mild but interesting aroma-raisin, malt, lightly vinous and touch of tobacco. Light to medium bodied, dryish toasty malt with a chocolate bitterness and short finish. The weakest of the three in the variety pak IMO but well worth trying. Aldi is getting more interesting all the time.

Bottle (labelled Odenwalder from US Aldi). A sour milk and chocolate aroma. Medium brown color with small head. Slightly sweet initially with a sour dark malt finish. Moderate body. Again I’m amazed that you can buy a better Schwarzbier in Aldi’s than you can in most beer stores. Will have to keep an eye on their selection - this came in a 12 pack with 4 schwarbiers, 4 dortmunders (lagers) and 4 pilsners for $10 - you can’t even find Lowenbrau that cheap.

Dark ruby brown with a slim tan head. Fresh yeasty, coffee and caramel aroma. Nice coffee and caramel taste. Medium bodied, fairly carbonated. Nothing spectacular but good drinkable beer.

Dark brown, good-sized tan head. Weak aroma - some maltiness and grass. Flavor is likewise weak, a bit of watered down coffee and sweetness. Too light bodied and fizzy.

Bottle
Deep red, creamy off-white head. Slight grasy and fruity (orangepeel) nose. Bland malt, a hint of roast, dry finish - somehow not that interresting. Light body, fizzy mouthfeel.

Bottled:
Malty aroma with hop and roast notes. Light to medium bodied. Some maltiness, but all in all few flavor. In the end a very dry bitterness with roasted malt components. All in all few Schwarzbier character.

Draught, at Rover. Dark golden, white head. A good taste of malt, ending in a fine bitterness. Very fine.
