| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Pours a transparent copper amber with a lightly-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet earthy dark caramel malt with a touch of noble hops. Body starts slightly sweet and with mild hints of toasted caramel and light butterscotch. Finishes thin with more light caramel flavor. Fairly true to style. pivnizub (5106), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2007 Bottle: Deep amber coloured, very small, lacing foamy layer; moderate dark malty nose with a distinctive toasted-malty touch; light bodied, mainly dry bitter (-malty) flavour; malty, toasted-malty bitterness, almost a bit coffeeish, in the short finish. A decent, but not a great Schwarzbier....... MoritzF (5080), Bochum, Germany
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 19, 2006 (bottle) Clear reddish brown colour with a short, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet malty, shy roasted aroma with light notes of caramel. Medium to light sweet flavour, rather slim bodied with a medium carbonation. Slightly papery taste with hints of roasted malt and traces of caramel and dried fruits; dry, light-bitter and malty finish. Mediocre brew, which is lacking the profound attributes of a real Schwarzbier. Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Drinking from a vottle of Odenwalder Schwarz Beer: This poured a deep mahogany body with a thick tan head that did some sparse lacing. The aroma is sweet with roasted malt. A bit thin, but it delivers some nice roasted flavors and a malty sweetness that’s held in check by a light earthy bitterness. Not complex, but sessionable.
