It pours a nice, dark, nearly opaque chocolaty brown. Flavor is malty with coffee and chocolate undertones, as well as hints of molasses and smoke. Texture is smooth and fizzy, just a teeny bit watery. Recommended. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2005 Bottle (labelled Odenwalder from US Aldi). A sour milk and chocolate aroma. Medium brown color with small head. Slightly sweet initially with a sour dark malt finish. Moderate body. Again I’m amazed that you can buy a better Schwarzbier in Aldi’s than you can in most beer stores. Will have to keep an eye on their selection - this came in a 12 pack with 4 schwarbiers, 4 dortmunders (lagers) and 4 pilsners for $10 - you can’t even find Lowenbrau that cheap. gws57 (1138), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA

Nice schwartzbeer. Watery dark brownish red color with a bubbly head, sweet, roasted malt. Weak, but very drinkable. rlgk (3378), Vårgårda, Sweden
