Aroma is rich, oily and yeasty with a firm overtone of fine roast coffee. It pours a nice, dark, nearly opaque chocolaty brown. Flavor is malty with coffee and chocolate undertones, as well as hints of molasses and smoke. Texture is smooth and fizzy, just a teeny bit watery. Recommended.

Caramel, coffee and roasted malt aroma, Ruby, with a large toffee head, pretty lace. Coffee and malt flavour. Incredibly good bitterness, smooth, light bodied, easy to drink. A very good beer!

This is actually a Dunkel not a Schwarzbier! nice coffee, roasted malt flavor with a medium dry finish!Schmucker is a small- medium size brewery located about 50 miles from Frankfurt and still family owned!A good representative beer but not spectacular!

Dark ruby brown with a slim tan head. Fresh yeasty, coffee and caramel aroma. Nice coffee and caramel taste. Medium bodied, fairly carbonated. Nothing spectacular but good drinkable beer.

Bottle (labelled Odenwalder from US Aldi). A sour milk and chocolate aroma. Medium brown color with small head. Slightly sweet initially with a sour dark malt finish. Moderate body. Again I’m amazed that you can buy a better Schwarzbier in Aldi’s than you can in most beer stores. Will have to keep an eye on their selection - this came in a 12 pack with 4 schwarbiers, 4 dortmunders (lagers) and 4 pilsners for $10 - you can’t even find Lowenbrau that cheap.

Found this one under the name "Odenwalder Schwarz Bier" at an Aldi in Batavia, Illinois. Nice schwartzbeer. Watery dark brownish red color with a bubbly head, sweet, roasted malt. Weak, but very drinkable.

Darm amber with a nice head. Aroma is great from toffe, malty and buttery. Has a malty flavor, but with less toffee than in the aroma.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear orangey brown with a fine beige head. Roasted almost coffeeish - aroma. Medium body, sweet rosted malts and some dark chocolate. Surprisingly no real bitterness. 041009
