Pours a hazy golden amber with a white head the dissipates to a wisp. Medium bodied with a some tickly carbonation. The wheat malt backbone is behind flavors of banana, white pepper, and some european hoppiness. Belgian phenols on the finish with a hint of alcohol. Comes across more Belgian than German. I can detect some apple and yeast. Scent is also spiced with some hops. Mild yeast and spices up front. Quite hoppy for the style. Very interesting take on the style. Pours a hazy golden-orange with a huge creamy white head, lots of little floaties, and very active carbonation. Luscious aroma of pineapple, lemon, pepper, and nice herbal hops. Crisp body that really refreshes the palate. Flavour is yeasty and spicey, with notes of clove and pepper, some lemon and pineapple, and a well-hopped finish that is herbal and a pit piney. I had the Brooklyn-brewed version a couple of weeks ago and haven’t entered my notes yet, but I recall enjoying it a bit more than this one. Still, this is very fine stuff - which isn’t a surprise, given the pedigree. riversideAK (2792), Shoreline, Washington, USA

The aroma is strong and hoppy, lots of lemon, pepper, and some light clove, light banana, earthy hops too. Pours a bright shade of orange/yellow with a nice creamy lasting head. Strong hoppy flavors up front. Lemon and citrus seem to be the strongest, followed by pepper. Some clovey spice comes in along with some pleasant banana notes and softer fruits as well. Hops come back and manifest themselves in the form of earthy, gritty pepper. Smooth drinking body with a nice dose of hops. An interesting and nice brew. montev87 (7), , Florida, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Large amount of sediment makes appearance pleasantly cloudy. Fun beer to drink a lot going on very refreshing spring or summer brew. Also a lot cheaper than the brooklyn version being that more of this one was brewed. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA
