The nose was really citrusy, lots of sweet citrusy hops, some wheat in the background and very mild banana. The aroma profile of a wheat beer is an easy one for the hops to dominate as they do in this. The flavor is citrusy and waxy, light bitterness, mild alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and smooth from the wheat, a decent amount of carbonation, and a waxy feel. Finishes citrusy and bitter and then fades to wheat and banana, a little warmth comes out as well. The wheat is the most prominent in the finish. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 18, 2008 Standard hazy straw colored pour, with blooming white head. Nice sweet wheaty nose with assertive grassy/herbally hop presence. Flavor start with slight banana and clove components with a hint of vanilla. Hop character is bright and herballly, nice touch of grass and a hint of citrus. Hops check the esters and sweetness very well. Body is full and fluffy with sparkly almost champaign like carbonation. Some woody type notes on the finish. Very well crafted. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2008 Bottle from Brawleys. I have been looking for this one for a really long time - and finally I found some. Pours out a yellowish orange color with a large white head on it. Smell is fruity, full of lemons, citrus, and some hops. Very pleasing. The taste is where this beer accels. This one is better than the other one, hands down. Tastes fruity, sweet, easy to drink, little hops, very smooth and refreshing on a hot summer day. Damn fine beer, do these guys make anything bad? I am not sure they do. Really good. Shoulda bought a case of this instead of other beers. 00cobraR (1102), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2008 Great collaboration with G. Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery. Was quite suprised by the 8.2% ABV for a German beer and yet it was well-hidden. A present taste of hops, pours dark golden.
A definitive plus, wishing many other Germans Weisse would taste like that. DruncanVeasey (2768), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2008 Foaming rocky haze in requisite trumpet. Aroma immediately evocative of Belgium for me- that of a juicily hopped, unspicy, citrussy Tripel (Rulles?). Lemon and lime jelly, marmalade, spruce, rind, fibrous grapefruity hop. Wow. Nothing Germanic going on here whatsoever. The hops have just completely smashed the wheat to the canvas in the first round, which is great but I wanted the two to scrap it out. Flavour an accidental and unexpectedly pleasurable mouthful of soap, swallowed bathfoam/bubble mix, densely citrussy hop bittersweetness, without even the faintest trace of alcohol. Absolutely not a ’Weizen Bock’, but an American Pale Tripelweizen, and I love it, but what happened to the weizen? It’s just a bit too interchangeable with a marmaladey Belgian Tripel for me. Now, a genuinely balanced fusion of silky estery banana, bubblegum, pepper, wheaty sharpness AND punchy American hops at 8.2%, now THAT really would be interesting.... | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2008 Poured from a 500ml bottle and served in a weizen glass. This beer poured a bright, hazy orange with a substantial head of white foam that showed off some excellent retention. Lots of uneven, bubbly lacing was left around the glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of fresh wheat, orange and lemon zest, ripened bananas, and a hefty dose of spicy hops. Very nice! The flavor included bananas, oranges, wheat, and also some spicy, herbal hop notes. The 8.2% ABV was very well hidden. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy, and very refreshing. A great beer!
