Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

’07 bottle: Pour was a dark mahogany with a thick, tan head. Nose was massive amounts of dark fruits, i.e. raisins, plums, etc. Some dark malted wheat is apparent along with some spice. Great carbonation on this yet it still retains some silkiness in the body. Flavor was the aforementioned dark fruits, wheat and spice. Very good brew.

Did an alright job of hiding the alcohol, but the flavors were very nice. Similar spice, caramel and fruity flavors to the regular. I like the drinkability and more subtle flavors of the original, but this is still pretty good.

I actually prefer this to the regular Aventinus, but they’re both so damn good, who really cares? Ultra-intense flavors, it’s almost hard to describe. I was actually shocked (in a good way) when I first sipped this beer. I was unaware you could pact that much explosive flavor into any liquid. You can definitely taste the alcohol, but it’s a nice compliment rather than an unpleasant surprise.

It does have an alcohol flavor mixed with a wheat and strong beer flavor. Enjoyable. To be sipped and savored. Easy to drink at 12% alcohol. Very dark spice and flavor!

Bottled@home Apperance: Hazy red/brownish with a decent sized head. No lacing at all. Aroma: Fruit, Caramel, Malt, Alcohol, Yeast. Flavor: Caramel, Malt, Cloves, Fruit, Yeast, Alchohol, Spices. Palate: Very sweet and sticky with lots of sweet malt and fruit. Some taste of alcohol at the end. Warms you up nicely! The normal Aventinus is great and this is a concentraded version if it, can’t go wrong with that. Very good stuff!

I am a huge fan of the original Aventinus. The eisbock version is amazing as well. The concentration of flavor is outstanding, and even though its 12% you cant really taste or feel the alcohol on the palate.

An amazing amount of sediment and gunk at the bottom of this three-month-cellared bottle which retains most of the great spice and stewed fruit flavors of the regular Aventinus, presenting them anew in greater concentration and depth. Outstanding.
