Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Looking for something special and this did not disappoint. Tastes a lot like the regular Aventinus doppelbock, only more intense. Warm and spicy mouthfeel with slight alcohol tingle. Strong caramel tones, sweet, delicious.

Bonus bottle courtesy of emacgee. Pours a murky brown color with a trim beige head. Laden with sediment. Smells and tastes of prunes, orange rind, cinnamon, and wheat. Syruppy in texture. Does a fine job covering the ABV, but not with the most balanced or appealing of flavors.

Brown body with medium head. Malty nose. Sweet with flavours of raisins, cinnamon and malts. Plenty of different flavours to find. Smooth with nice carbonation.

Purchased at Wine and Wares in Jacksonville, NC. Poured a dark amber-brown, thin tan head that lingers. Spices, banana, bready malt, alcohol in the nose. Smooth and creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation. Taste is spicy, slightly over ripe banana, raisins, rum like, with the sweet toffee-like malt very strong. Alcohol shows up as warming, but doesn’t overwhelm the flavors. Warm, very sweet finish that hangs around awhile. Fairly complex in its flavors. Not outstanding, but very good.

Bottle. Powerful aroma of ripe plums, banana, a bit of soy sauce, and alcohol. Deep reddish brown body, small light tan head. Flavor has wheat, fruits, sweetness, alcohol burn. Extremely high quality beer, but for my tastes the alcohol is a bit too much.

Bottle@Home, thanks Savad. Banana, toffee and malty aroma. Brown color, beige/greyish head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, banana, vanilla, toffee, some herbs. Soft and smooth. Straightforward German beer but very flavourful.
