Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Part of a 3 sampler, 10cl poured into a white wine glass at Birra Artigianale di Qualita in Milan, Italy. Cloudy cider color with about an inch head that disappears quickly. Odd combination of different notes: floral/citrus/olive/banana/spicy. Warm BBQ taste not what I expected it to taste like. No kick in the palate. A very good beer.

Reddish brown pour with no head. Looks like liquor. Aroma of dark fruits, strawberry, banana, and caramel. Flavor is quite sweet, but not in a bad way. Very nice brown sugar/molasses notes paired with raisins, plums, mild cherries, and a hint of alcohol in the finish. Palate is nicely carbonated and compliments the flavor well. Everything about the beer also seems to be improving as it warms. I’m not sure if I like this or the regular version better, but both are excellent beers.

Cloudy dark amber color with no head and some floaties. The aroma is sugar sweet to me with yeasty caramel with some dried fruit. Flavor is kind of alcoholy, but really sweet, cherries, raisins, biscuitness. Definitely has a nice warming sensation, and the body is nice and pretty well rounded. I find it pretty enjoyable though.

Very similar to Aventinus, except a little more flavorful, bumping up the overall impression by a point. Excellent beer, great lively dark brown appearance with an off-white head. Banana, dark fruits, caramel, and yeast on the aroma. Same on the flavor, with clove, brown sugar, and a nice alcohol bite. Smooth palate with substantial carbonation and an alcohol bite.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a small tan head and a nose of malts, biscuits, dried prunes, cherries and toasted grains. The taste is sweet in a good way, but also pretty alcoholic. Brown sugar and some caramel, but mainly a well-rounded sweetness. A sweet finish too, with a little but of bitterness in the end. A nice beer

This beer pours very cloudy and dark brownish amber with a really thick, pillowy head. No lacing. The aroma is mostly dried fruit, prunes and raisins. A lot of roasted malt sweetness in the nose too The taste is really quite sweet and alcoholic. If you’d had Aventinus the flavour is almost the same, just with a more pronounced alcohol and more malty sweetness. This is aventinus on steroids. The mouthfeel is pretty highly carbonated and medium bodied. Pretty hard to drink more than one of these beasts.
