Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle at home ... Thanks to Fonefan for this ... brown ... very sweet caramel malt slightly smokey little banana and spices little yeast nose ... thick syrupy mouthfeel ... sweet banana ... dark fruits and raisins... light spice mostly cloves ... alcohol does seem to show quite heavily

Rich, warm and sweet with some melanoidian like complexity. Hints of chocolate, toffee, raisin, plums and hints of molasses and licorice. Slightly thick and slick mouthfeel, with hints of clove, peppers, dried fruits and chocolate. Powerful warmth pervades this beer, and it finishes pretty full and sweet

Brown colored brew.Smoky aroma, isopropyl, alcohol. Spicy flavor, laurel, licorice, sweet, too much laurel.

0.33 bottle from Alko. Hazy dark amber color with creamy head. Sweet, perfumed and warming aroma with banana and clove. Bready, tart and fruity flavor with figs and alcohol tartness. Better with sediment. Too much tart alcohol, I prefer the original.

500ml Bottle from the LCBO in Toronto. Nice cloudy dark ambar colour, with nice head and lacing. Strong malty, fruity aroma. Exceptional malty, dried fruit and strong alcohol flavour, drink slowly to appreciate. Nice lingering aftertaste. Better than the normal Aventinus, which is a favourite on it’s own.

500ml Bottle shared with Pyroziod and French Tickler. Dark brown, hazy and a minimal head. Aroma: apple, cloves, banana peal, lemon. Flavor: salt, icing sugar, pepper, bubble gum and creamy. Palate: Creamy and fizzy with an oily fininsh

Bottle - Dark brown with loads of suspended sediment. Light tan head which soon dissipated. Low carbonation. Full bodied. The 12% alcohol is not at all overbearing and blends nicely the the sweet and intense flavours of dark fruits, wheat, and banana. Slightly spicy and just a hint of cloves. An awesome beer!
