Pours a deep, cola like brown with a 1/2" off white head. Huge malt & wheat nose with a warm slightly carbonated palate. As to flavor, this is complex huge beer. Huge malt background with wheat, dark fruits, nuts & alcohol. This is a sipper for sure. Goes down smooth, but warm. Almost like port or brandy. sleepylopes (313), New York, USA

Pours a dark amber color and has quite a head that fades very quickly but leaves no lacing. I can tell it is pretty carbonated just because it sounds like a cola after I pour it. Smells like I would expect from a bock up front with some wheat smells afterwards. Raisiny, malty, a little bit of wheat, and a hint of alcohol coming up the rear. Tastes absolutely phenomenal. A smooth mellowed out caramel, malty taste with a hint of the wheat but very little alcohol. The alcohol really sneaks up on you in this one since it comes in at 12%. The mouthfeel is really smooth and goes down easily. Its very drinkable but I can’t see myself drinking much else for a while after this.

Brown with a off-white head. Personally I prefer them to appear a bit more bold at this level - but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Very strange sediment. Taste is nutty with cloves and spices. Creamy finish.
Overall a great beer - VERY original and holds its own in a very high league.

I think the younger sibling has the upper hand, just for the fact that the alcohol can be a bit too cloying here. Still a great brew though ajm (945), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 I’d have this again in a flash - aroma of caramel and dark plum, flavors of raisin, fig, roasted/fermented fig/plum/dark grape and nicely balanced with roasted malt. A hell of a beer - really reminds me of a quad. Actually reminds me a little of Westy 12 specifically, which I hope doesn’t get me shot. A beer that’s fab at any temperature.
