Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

11.2 oz bottle. 2008 vintage. Bottle # 02759 purchased at Julio’s Liquors in Westborough, Mass. Pours a deep, cola like brown with a 1/2" off white head. Huge malt & wheat nose with a warm slightly carbonated palate. As to flavor, this is complex huge beer. Huge malt background with wheat, dark fruits, nuts & alcohol. This is a sipper for sure. Goes down smooth, but warm. Almost like port or brandy.

Bottle number 04472 from the 2006 batch Tasted on 4/01/08

Pours a dark amber color and has quite a head that fades very quickly but leaves no lacing. I can tell it is pretty carbonated just because it sounds like a cola after I pour it. Smells like I would expect from a bock up front with some wheat smells afterwards. Raisiny, malty, a little bit of wheat, and a hint of alcohol coming up the rear. Tastes absolutely phenomenal. A smooth mellowed out caramel, malty taste with a hint of the wheat but very little alcohol. The alcohol really sneaks up on you in this one since it comes in at 12%. The mouthfeel is really smooth and goes down easily. Its very drinkable but I can’t see myself drinking much else for a while after this.

A very unique aroma - alcohol, malt and a strange scent I can’t describe. Brown with a off-white head. Personally I prefer them to appear a bit more bold at this level - but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Very strange sediment. Taste is nutty with cloves and spices. Creamy finish. Overall a great beer - VERY original and holds its own in a very high league. Girlfriend Review - "Holy shit goddamn, that is the nastiest shit I’ve ever tasted!"

A great beer, obviously a concentrated version of the weizen bock. I think the younger sibling has the upper hand, just for the fact that the alcohol can be a bit too cloying here. Still a great brew though

I’d have this again in a flash - aroma of caramel and dark plum, flavors of raisin, fig, roasted/fermented fig/plum/dark grape and nicely balanced with roasted malt. A hell of a beer - really reminds me of a quad. Actually reminds me a little of Westy 12 specifically, which I hope doesn’t get me shot. A beer that’s fab at any temperature.

Bottle...brown, beige head....Initial whiff is alcohol, then sweet candy malt...some brown sugar...just lots of sweet sugar in the nostrils...mouth, sweet at first that leads to a quick sour finish then a sweet again with a light alcohol heat...some caramel + toffee blended with sweet sweet sugar malt and licorice...a silky mouth feel---some spices in the mid-palate---I dig the silky palate, the licorice, not so much...alcohol well disguised in taste, not aroma
