Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle from Sam’s Clybourn. Pour is deep and dark with a thin offwhite head. Nose is sweet and tart, alcohol and cloves. A little yeast. Taste is loaded, lot of sweet and spicy character with a ton of alcohol noticeable. Rich, but far from great in my book...

PIB, tap... Poured ruby with a white head. Aroma of cloves and yeast and hops. Very, very sweet with bitter, strong alcohol and a nice malt and hop presence. Like strong, exaggerated wheat ale.

Bottle. Creamy off-white fair mostly deminishing head. Muddy brown colour. Modrate malty aroma. Light swet moderate bitter flavor. Strong prúne and plumb notes. Creamy palate. Not my favorite.

Pours a chestnut dark brown with a large short-lived off white head. Aroma is huge on the malt with a lot of dark fruit undertones, plum and raisin especially So many things going on with the flavor it’s hard to pinpoint any one thing, but there’s a little toffee, a little plum pudding, just so much going on here. I want to have another one right away so I can try to pinpoint some mroe. Definitely worth a revisit. there is a good alcohol burn there though. You know it’s a high ABV beer..

...bottle from Purvis. Well, how complex can you get for a weizen? This is the answer. Burgundy, with an off white, small but lasting head. Dark fruits on the nose, with a slight hint of alcohol. Wheat, raisins, port, thick bread, some vanilla and some spice, with a syrupy, big bodied mouthfeel. Finish is warming, with alcohol and wheat malt. Great flavorful sediment adds to the bad-assedness of this beer, what a great mistake. I would say, this is up there in complexity, and flavor and one of the most hardcore beers out there, made to be enjoyed, it’s so fukin hardcore. It will bitchslap you if you disrespect it, that’s how hardcore it is.

Pours dark, cloudy burgundy with off white head. Aromas of wheat, alcohol, port wine and spices. Similar flavors with the alcohol really dominant. Medium/full body with average carbonation and an almosy syrupy mouthfeel. An interesting beer to try, but the alcohol flavor was a little too strong for my taste.

11.2oz. 07 bottle from MO. Pours a murky amber brown with a thin light tan head that left no lacing. Aromas of sweet malt, bread, and a alcohol. Tastes of the sweet malt and bread fallowed by wheat with a lighter than the aroma suggests alcohol finish. Big body, very lively carb, thin syrupy texture, warm alcohol feel. An interestig and fine big beer. I’m not a big fan of the weizen’s, but this one is a worthwhile sip.
